    All hail to the King!
The first Ghost Recon games featuring the Heroes Unleashed mod are appearing on GameRanger, the cross-platform multiplayer gaming network.

The GameRanger client is a free download for Mac and PC that lets you play over 500 games and demos online with friends and opponents worldwide in a very user-friendly way. GameRanger works through firewalls and routers "out-of-the-box", without any manual setup, and it offers features like profiles, friends lists, instant messaging, in-game voice communication, and competitive ladders/rankings/ratings (although some features require a paid subscription).

A small update: For anyone interested, I have set up a little dedicated Ghost Recon: Heroes Unleashed server on GameRanger ( ->link<- ). For starters, it is running 9-slot CO-OP in "firefight" mode on random maps.

No TeamSpeak or anything fancy required, just join in and have some fun! :good:

I'm hosting from my laptop while on the road, but bandwidth should be sufficient for up to 9 players. The server is on dynamic IP, so it may go offline for a few minutes once in a while (usually every 24 hours).

i've recently tried your mod on gameranger hosting this huge mod.......the complaints were as follows......your mod disables the reticles on other mods, such as SK's five mods and GRPA 4.1 also the missions were no more than firefights....after downloading for 40 minutes your 899 meg mod ppl had to download the newest version of stuffit to unpack it......just seemed like a lot of hoops to jump for a lacklustre mod

I have friends in high places!
All of the issues you mentioned, Dirtnap, are conflicts with the said mods. Heroes Unleashed is designed to be a standalone mod, with only MP1/MP2/HU enabled. HU is not supported with other mods enabled, as due to the sheer size of the mod, conflicts with other mods are inevitable.

I have to say that comment about HU being lackluster was... well... just not true (well maybe if you mix vodka and beer... ).

I'm sorry you don't like the mod, Dirtnap.

As Snake has pointed out (and is mentioned in the mod's documentation) Heroes Unleashed cannot guarantee compatibility with other third-party mods. And of the 128 missions in the BETA VERSION(!) of Heroes Unleashed, 32 are full-scale missions - the rest provide a firefight-style while full missions are still under development (this is documented in the mod's ReadMe, as well).

Without 7z-compression the 3.6GB of the mod would be an even larger download. For example, zip-compressed the download would weigh in at 1.3GB. You may not need to download StuffIt to unpack the mod, as long as you have any kind of 7z-compatible extraction utility installed. And download and install of StuffIt is still faster than having to download a file over 400MB larger, wouldn't you agree?

As for the obviously offensive nature of your post - well, let's just say it is quite sad. You complain about 40 minutes of downloading and unpacking being "a lot of hoops to jump" for a mod that required years of work and is provided to you freely. I don't know what went wrong in your life to make you behave like that, but I hope things will improve for you.

Anyone who has played this game any amount of time knows that mods will override and sometimes crash other mods. As for the lackluster comment I won't comment on the ones you mentioned because I like them both for their own reasons. Silent Killers is fun.... if you want to kill things from all the way across the map with a silenced P90 sniper rifle. and GRPA is a basic mod with maps so I am not sure your complaint. If you want other game types you can drop the gametypes into the mods mission folder. I use certain ones for my guys to train on that spawn random AI is various sizes and I dropped those into the mod. if your looking for things like the Camphouse special it isn't here and doubt it ever will be. If I was to call this mod anything it would be "realistic" and not lackluster.

    Thanks, twcrash. :good:

I just wanted to add that extra game types are on my to-do list for the summer release (it's also in the ReadMe). And yes, emphasizing realism is certainly one of the main goals of Heroes Unleashed, and I hope it can add some extra fun to the game, too.

As for the GRPA mod - I think it is a great mod with amazing maps, and I can see why it has become a standard on GameRanger, just like the DBL Map Pack. I already talked to the creators of GRPA some time ago and they gave permission to use their maps in future versions of Heroes Unleashed, so expect to see some of them being implemented soon.

It adds quit a bit I just scratched the surface. he stated it was just assault gametype but did he try the missions? I mean there are 128 missions. Now take those and add the AI tweaks, new weapons, skins, maps ect i dont get the lackluster comment. When me n the guys fire this up alot of times we just play the missions. Does he know you can play the missions in coop multiplayer? Anyways I support quite a few mods including CDFA for SWAT4, Insurgency for HL2, Project Reality for Joint Ops, Reality Mod for BF2, FFUR for OFP and more. I also support this mod as well BECAUSE like Centcom or Year Of The Monkey,Frost Bite and Icebreaker:Barbarosa, If Ubisoft had released any of these they would have been raved and revered as excellent expansion packs and Heroes Unleashed falls into that catagory as well. And really that's what these are. Expansion packs by the GR Community.

The GameRanger server was offline for a couple of days because I needed the resources for testing the latest update. It is back online now with the new 1.0.0b4 version of Heroes Unleashed, so please update your old installations before joining the server.

Thank you, and have fun with a new version of heroes Unleashed! :good:

lmao dirtnap you can say what you want but if you are gonna make a blanket statement expect a response as well. You drop a line in here and don't even know if its a conflict with other mods. And This is the problem with GR community and mods. People pile mod on top of mod on top of mod then go Hey why ain't it working? Well duh. I know guys who fire up Icebreaker and drop Sk or DA49 with and just RUIN the feel for Icebreaker AND how it was intended to be played.

Isn't the point of creating a "readme" for us to "read" it? If Dirtnap had taken the time to read the file he would would have found an incredible detailed (and long) manual on everything from installation instructions through best setup for three types of computers and much, much more. I guess I'm too anal, but as soon as I download a mod I've always felt I owe it to the creator of the mod to read the "readme" before playing. By the way, Apex was so polite he even called his a "PLEASE READ ME" file!!! See below... I mean if anyone is that insane to spend that much time working on the readme, don't you think it is worth at least giving it the "once over"

Hi tenzin and welcome to the forums.

I'd like to help, but would you please provide additional details on what doesn't work well and whether this a GameRanger-specific issue? I know the mod still has some shortcomings, but please keep in mind it is still a beta version and I am working on any reported issues and try to solve them for the next update.
